About this Speaker
Former chief industry specialist for IFC's Building Materials Sector for 13 years, where he appraised over 120 cement projects worldwide and contributed to IFC’s own investment of over $2bn. He joined the IFC after 25 years’ experience in the cement industry, in France, the U.S., Venezuela, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Cameroon. Following on a long family tradition, Michel started his career in cement process engineering, contributed to innovative burners design and patents, and was part of the founding team who developed Toptools, an advanced distributed process control and automation system. He held positions as project director, technical and industrial director, vice president of international development, and country general manager. He was the first CEO of a complex $260M greenfield cross border cement plant project (quarries in India, plant in Bangladesh), which equity valuation reached over $1bn. He was awarded the National Order of Merit by the President of the French Republic.
